Item: FP629    *NEW*  FEATURED           INVESTMENT GRADE
Description: St. Louis Style Clovis - We at Penbrandt Prehistoric Artifacts are both pleased and excited to be selected to offer for your pleasure the DeBorde Clovis.  One of THE most Exceptional pieces of flint to surface in the last 35 years.  It was found by my good friend Jack Deborde as a surface find in February of 1990 in Bourbon County, KY in a rough plowed field that had been turned under in November of 1989.  It is my opinion from a surface examination under a scope that this exceptionally huge Paleo is made from a highly patinated piece of Sonora Chert.  Other opinions over the years have called it Coshocton or Fort Payne but I believe Sonora is correct.  It measures 4 7/8 inches long and 2 inches wide.  It is very thin and extremely well made.  It is fluted approximately 2/3rds of it's length on both sides (see photos).  There is a burin fracture on one blade edge slightly back from the tip that is as ancient as the blade.  (see photos)  Some of this style of Clovis are believed to have been used in the harvesting of thatch from substances found on the blades.  Make no mistake, this is a premier artifact that deserves a truly appreciative collector!  It was first published in the "Prehistoric American", Vol. XXXVII, Number 2, in 2003 on pg 14.  It was next pictured in the "Central States Archaeological Journal", Vol 55, No.1, in January of 2008.  It was again published in "Ancient Indian Artifacts", Volume 1, by Jim Bennett in 2008 on pg's 196 & 197.  Finally, it was also pictured in "Extraordinary Fluted Points of the Tennessee Valley Region" by Ellis E. Whitt in 2010 on pg 44.  This exceptional offering will be shown at limited engagements only.  If you have not examined this exceptional piece before, arrangements can be made for you to do so.  Serious inquires only.

Item: FA1604 " NEW "    ONE OF THE LARGEST EXAMPLES KNOWN
Description: Outstanding Example of a Massive Lost Lake - This Lost Lake is one of the Largest Examples known.  It is not highly unusual to see examples of the Dovetail or Hardin typologies exceed 7 inches, but for Lost Lakes, it is VERY rare to see any exceed 5 1/2 inches or so.  This Beast measures 6 7/8 inches.  It is VERY thin, with very little secondary flaking.  I only know of ONE that is a 3/16" larger and it is missing a whole ear.  This example MAY BE the largest intact example of the type that there is!  The exact recovery location, I have not been able to trace down, but I have been able to backtrack it to Paducah, KY in the early 1960's.  Sometime between 1960 and 1962 Boyce Yates traded a coin and stamp collection for a group of artifacts that were held by Hoskins Coin Shop in Paducah, KY.  He took them back to Mayfield, KY and framed them in Oval, Bubble Glass frames no later than 1963.  ( I confirmed this by the printing on brown Paper bags for the Youngblood Bros. Stores placed in the back of the frames for spacing with the Youngblood family of Mayfield. )  These framed artifacts hung in Mr. Yates home from then till March of 2017.  From what I can find out, the group of artifacts were sold or pawned to Hoskins Coin Shop prior to 1962 or so.  I fell like the Lost lake was recovered somewhere within a 50 or so radius of Paducah, KY.  Currently in our personal collection. (published in the inside cover of Central States, Volume 66, Jan 2019, No. 1 and also published Sec 6, pg. 367 in the Artifact Gallery of James R. Bennett's "Avoiding Reproduction & Altered Ancient Indian Arrowheads") Comes with a Tom Davis COA!
