Item: HS169   *NEW*
Description: Limonite Boat Stone -  This Very Nice Limonite Boat Stone is out of the S.D. Collection of Prescott, Arkansas.  It is labeled with Dickinson's # B-10.  This item is listed in the Dickinson Catalog as "Boatstone from Smith Graham Place, Black Bayou, Nevada County, Arkansas".  It was then in the Scott Davidson Collection of Batesville, Ark.  Limonite, which is "brown Hematite" will break down from the inside in certain soils.  This one had started the "scaling" that is commonly seen in Limonite pieces before it was preserved.  This is an EXCELLENT piece to study because of the great examples of "pecking" and "grinding evident on it.  Boat stones are rare enough and I have only seen a few others of Limonite.  Ex- S.D. Dickinson Collection, Ex-Scott Davidson Collection, Ex- Monty & Jewdy Pennington.
